Benefits of Sober Living in West Los Angeles
Our sober living program provides a terrific step-down approach for those who have completed residential treatment but aren’t ready to return home yet. It can also serve as an alternative to residential treatment, allowing the person to live in a safe, sober environment while they take advantage of the clinical partnerships for treatment Riviera Recovery provides.
Our sober living homes feature beautifully decorated homes in fashionable neighborhoods with all the amenities needed. Living with others who are similarly focused on staying sober provides inspiration and accountability for everyone in the house. Often the bonds that develop in a sober living house result in inspirational friendships that continue after residents leave the house.
Sober living homes can provide the best location for both locals and those traveling from out-of-town. Those in need of treatment for addiction that live in the area find it comforting to stay in familiar territory. They enjoy the close proximity to family and friends and can continue to participate in some sober-focused activities they already enjoy. For those who want to continue working or going to school while in a sober living program, staying local allows them to do that.
For others, leaving the area they live in and working on their sobriety in a new location can provide an added boost to their recovery. Many people from outside the West LA area are drawn to the beaches, year-round warm weather, and emphasis on outdoor activities. In addition, leaving behind a homelife that may feature negative relationships or temptations to relapse can truly affect a person’s ability to embrace living a sober life. Often the change of scenery provides the impetus to gain the strength necessary to return home with the ability to stay focused on the recovery process.
Sober Living During Outpatient Treatment
Riviera Recovery recognizes that recovery involves addressing many facets in a person’s life as they adjust to living sober. We proudly offer several established clinical partnerships in order to provide our clients with an array of meaningful services to enhance their recovery experience.
The combination of our sober living homes and the access to additional treatment that we offer allows a person to work on themselves in several capacities. Just as our housing helps a person adjust to a new, healthy living environment, the clinical options we provide help them change how they think and feel as they progress through recovery.
We provide clinical partnerships with three types of treatment programs in order to allow residents to choose from the one that benefits them the most. These partnerships include:
- Outpatient Program (OP)
- Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
- Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)
Options for individual types of therapy modalities provided by sober living in West LA include:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
CBT focuses on teaching people to recognize their triggers and adapt their responses in order to avoid relapse. They learn healthy coping skills that pay off long after this short-term therapy ends.
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
DBT helps people accept the changes they need to make and put them into play. It teaches four basic tenets that positively influence and impact a person’s recovery from addiction. The tenets include mindfulness, interpersonal relations, emotional regulation, and distress tolerance.
Contingency Management (CM)
CM involves using a reward system to help motivate a person to do well in their recovery. Positive behaviors are reinforced through earning things like vouchers for privileges or activities that allow them more freedom during their time in treatment.
Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET)
The goal of MET is to help the person to change their self-destructive behaviors via motivational techniques. The therapist uses MET techniques to help create a plan for the person and monitors them as they make progress with it.
